Age Group Rules

Jump to: Kindergarten-1st · 2nd - 3rd Grade · 4th - 5th Grade

Kindergarten-1st

Hoop Height: 8ft

At this age, most kids are playing basketball for the very first time. We are here to have fun and try to teach the basic rules of basketball, Therefore calling fouls is pretty much non-existent unless very blatant.

There is NO stealing off the dribble. Players can steal of the pass.

To block a shot 2 feet must be on the ground and the player's hands up. There is no jumping up to swat a shot.

There is no double-teaming. Each player must remain guarding their assigned player.

Traveling & Double Dribbling

Reminders to dribble the ball. Traveling is not called at this age however we do not want to just let kids just run with the ball. We will blow whistle and remind them to dribble.

Out of bounds

If the ball goes out of bounds please make sure the ball is taken back out and passed back in. Coaches can regulate when turnovers are necessary versus just a simple mistake that can go back to the player.

Shooting Foul

If a player is fouled while shooting, the ball is given back to the player to take a free shot. After they shoot from the spot of the foul it is a live ball.

Reminder

This is a youth league, and we are here for the children. We want the kids to have fun while learning the game of basketball, sportsmanship, and teamwork all at the same time. We ask that all parents be good role models and patient with coaches, referees, and kids. Remember we all have the same goal and that is to make this an enjoyable experience for the kids.
